Welcome to Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic!

Pets don’t come with warning labels, and health problems rarely announce themselves at convenient times. What does make a difference is having a Mount Olive vet you already know and trust before something goes wrong.

Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic has been that clinic for dog and cat owners across Goldsboro and the surrounding Eastern NC region since 1965, over six decades of showing up, paying attention, and getting it right. Dr. Symphony Roberson, DVM, leads a team of veterinary professionals who treat every patient like they matter, because to the families who bring them in, they absolutely do.

Our Mission

Veterinary care works best when it’s driven by curiosity, not just protocol. At Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic, the team approaches every appointment by asking the right questions first, about your pet’s habits, what’s changed at home, and what you’ve noticed that might not seem significant but often is.

Dr. Symphony Roberson built this practice around the idea that thorough care and genuine communication go hand in hand. Pet owners shouldn’t leave an appointment with more confusion than they arrived with. That means clear explanations, honest assessments, and a team that treats your pet’s health as something worth investing time in, not something to process and move on from.

Why Choose Us

Vets in Goldsboro NC

Our Services

As trusted vets in Goldsboro, NC, Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic offers the Goldsboro community comprehensive veterinary care, including medical, surgical, and dental services. We also have an in-house pharmacy with access to specialists, making our veterinary facility a one-stop shop for your pet’s health and medical needs.

Surgery (All Types)

Surgical care for your pet deserves a team that treats every procedure with skill and genuine compassion. At Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic, we offer a broad range of operations, covering everything from declawing to emergency interventions for serious conditions. Your pet’s safety guides every decision we make, from the initial consultation through the final stages of recovery.

When surgery is needed, our Mount Olive vet team walks you through each phase so there are no surprises along the way. We review your pet’s current health, outline anesthesia options to maximize comfort, and have a qualified surgeon perform the procedure while staff monitors vitals throughout. After discharge, we equip you with clear, practical guidance on warning signs to watch for at home.

Blood Work (Labs)

Routine and diagnostic lab testing gives our team the detailed information needed to make confident, informed decisions about your pet’s health. Blood chemistry and composition reveal how well your pet’s organs are functioning, whether immune defenses are strong, and if any underlying disease, parasites, or hormonal imbalances are present. At Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic, we use our in-house testing capabilities to turn those results into timely, targeted care.

Lab panels are also a requirement before certain treatments to protect your pet’s safety as your Mount Olive vet team takes every precaution seriously. Prior to any anesthesia-based procedure, blood work (labs) screens for bleeding risks or dangerous sedation reactions. Dogs receiving heartworm preventatives such as ProHeart Injections must also be tested first, since administering these medications to an infected animal carries serious medical consequences.

Wellness Exams

Bringing your pet in for wellness exams each year creates a consistent record of their health that proves invaluable as they age, helping us identify subtle shifts that could signal an emerging condition. Vaccinations administered during these visits guard against serious and potentially fatal diseases, including feline leukemia, parvovirus, hepatitis, and feline calicivirus. A familiar, routine visit also helps nervous or hesitant animals grow more comfortable in a clinical setting over time.

As your Mount Olive vet, we know that no two patients are exactly alike, which is why Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic builds care recommendations around each individual animal’s breed, age, and health history. Puppies and kittens have different needs than senior pets, and our team addresses all of it. Every appointment ends with a clear conversation about next steps so you leave fully informed and confident in your pet’s care plan.

Sick Pet Exams

Even with excellent preventive care, pets can unexpectedly fall ill or sustain injuries that require immediate medical attention, and reaching out to us early is always the right move. Our Mount Olive veterinarian takes a comprehensive approach during each visit, combining a hands-on physical evaluation with access to our in-house laboratory and radiology department to accurately pinpoint what is wrong. The sooner we understand the cause, the sooner your pet experiences real relief.

Treatment following sick pet exams is never one-size-fits-all at Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic, as every care plan reflects your individual animal’s specific condition and needs. Our team is experienced in a wide range of interventions. We walk you through every recommendation clearly so you feel confident and informed throughout your pet’s entire recovery.

Dentistry

Dental problems are easy to overlook until they become serious, yet the mouth is often one of the earliest places where health issues surface in cats and dogs. Pets are remarkably good at masking oral discomfort, which means halitosis, reluctance to chew on toys or rawhide, and changes in eating habits deserve a closer look from a veterinary professional. Catching these signs early through routine dentistry care can prevent the kind of progressive disease that affects far more than just your pet’s teeth.

Our Mount Olive vet team at Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic offers professional cleanings that target harmful buildup beneath and along the gumline, reducing the risk of periodontal disease and the tooth loss that often follows. When extraction becomes the right course of action, our veterinarian evaluates your pet’s full health profile before proceeding, and most animals return home the same day.

Bathing and Nail Trim

A clean, well-maintained pet is a healthier pet, and professional grooming appointments deliver benefits that go well beyond a fresh coat. Baths rid your pet of accumulated debris and environmental allergens that can aggravate sensitive skin, while consistent nail care preserves proper foot structure and prevents the posture problems that develop when nails grow too long. For pets prone to parasites or specific dermatological conditions, medicated baths offer a targeted solution chosen with your pet’s individual health profile in mind.

Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic treats every bathing and nail trim visit as an opportunity to do more than clean — we conduct a careful look at your pet’s eyes, ears, paws, teeth, skin, and coat to flag anything that warrants further attention. All breeds benefit from routine grooming, though pets with thicker or longer coats may need more frequent care to avoid painful matting. Bringing grooming into a Mount Olive veterinary setting means your companion receives attentive, medically informed care every single visit.

FAQs

What is a Proheart injection, and how is it different from a monthly heartworm pill?

Proheart is an injectable heartworm prevention that provides continuous protection for an extended period, removing the monthly pill from the equation entirely. For pet owners who find it difficult to stay on a strict monthly schedule, it eliminates the risk of a missed dose leaving their pet unprotected. The clinic offers Proheart injections as part of its preventative care options, so ask the team whether it’s a good fit for your pet at your next visit.

Does the clinic carry prescription diets or therapeutic foods?

Yes. Through Purina Pro Plan Vet Direct, the clinic provides access to prescription diet options that support specific health conditions, from digestive issues to weight management and kidney support. These diets are only available through a veterinarian, and having access to them in-house means your pet’s nutritional needs can be addressed as part of an integrated care plan rather than as an afterthought.

Can I get my pet's medications without coming in for every refill?

The clinic’s online pharmacy through SecureVetSource allows prescriptions and preventatives to be ordered from home and delivered directly to your door. This is especially useful for pets on long-term medications where frequent clinic trips aren’t practical. The in-house pharmacy also remains available for prescriptions filled on-site at the time of your visit, whichever works better for your routine.

Is bathing and nail trimming something the clinic handles, or is that strictly for groomers?

The clinic offers both bathing and nail trims as part of its services, making it easy to fold basic grooming into your pet’s routine care visits. Overgrown nails in particular can affect how a pet walks and put strain on their joints over time, something that’s easy to overlook but worth staying on top of. Having it done in a veterinary setting also means any skin, coat, or paw concerns spotted during the process can be flagged by trained staff right away.

What should I do if my pet needs attention over the weekend?

The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on weekends. For non-emergency concerns that arise outside of those hours, telemedicine through the sister practice Symphony Mobile Veterinary Clinic can help you get a professional opinion without waiting until Monday. For true emergencies, Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sims, NC at 252.991.6560 and the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh are both available as referral options.
